Practice Policies at Inner Oasis Craniosacral

Grateful to be keeping doors open to new and established clients since re-opening in April 2021 with ongoing safety measures and strict air quality control. To reduce the potential transmission of airborne viruses, I am continuing the use of masks in-session for the foreseeable future.

There is no known incidence of contagious infection through my office suite during this time, and I thank my clients for their transparency and precaution.

Holding your appointment

I hold credit card information as part of my cancellation policy. You may choose your method of payment; you are not obligated to use the credit card on file. Other forms of payment include check, cash, Venmo, PayPal, and HSA/FSA card. Your credit card on file will not be billed unless there is a cancellation fee (see cancellation fees below).

Appointments are required

Please contact me well in advance to secure your preferred date and time; I encourage you to book as far in advance as your schedule allows. Same-day availability is not an option.

Appointment changes

I understand there are many unanticipated events and reasons why appointments need to be changed or canceled. In that case, I kindly request 48 hours notice by email, phone or text. At a minimum, I require 24 hours notice for all appointment changes. This allows adequate time so that I may offer your appointment slot to another client.

Cancellation fees

Appointment cancellations or changes with less than 24 hours notice are subject to a cancellation fee of 50% of the session fee. Cancellations or changes within 2 hours of your appointment and missed appointments will result in you being charged 100% of the session fee.

Safety rescheduling

For the safety of myself, my clients, and our collective communities, rescheduling as a result of the development of COVID-like symptoms or unexpected COVID-19 exposure will go without penalty. No matter where we are in the global pandemic, bodywork and recovering from a potentially infectious or contagious illness don’t belong together — please notify ASAP and wait until you’re fully recovered.

Tardiness

I encourage you to prioritize yourself and maximize your table time. Please aim to arrive on time or a few minutes early for your appointment. I ask every client to be conscientious in starting and ending each session on time. This includes calculating and allowing for road traffic en route. Late arrivals will not receive an extension in service time and you will be charged the full session fee.

Scope of practice

As a massage therapist, my scope of practice includes the application of manual techniques and adjunct therapies with specific intent to positively affect the client’s health and wellbeing. I am not a medical expert and I do not diagnose problems, treat illnesses, or advise on medical concerns. I do, however, need to be advised of your health. I ask for honesty and completeness in reporting your health status — including any changes as we continue our work together — to the best of your ability. Professionally, I cannot counsel you on your health. If I believe you could use extra support that lies beyond my scope, I refer out to more qualified health professionals. Appointments with me are not to be used as a substitute for proper medical attention for specific conditions. If you have a serious condition please consult your primary care provider first.

Insurance

I do not contract with insurance companies; payment is due at the time of service. I can provide a receipt for you to submit for possible reimbursement.

Your privacy

Strict client confidentiality is a principle I am ethically bound to adhere to. Unless I’m required by law to share information, every effort is made to keep our communication confidential, including information about you and what happens in a session. If you’d like me to discuss your case with another practitioner, I’ll need your written and signed permission to do so. Your written authorization is kept on file and may be revoked by you at any time. I grow as a practitioner by receiving clinical supervision. The details you provide may be shared in supervision, however, individually identifying information is not revealed and the supervision relationship itself is protected under a contract of confidentiality. Please let me know if you have questions or concerns.

Clothing & fragrance

All sessions are clothed. Wear what makes you comfortable. Please refrain from wearing perfume, cologne, or other scented products to your appointment, and abstain from alcohol intake or other recreational substances before your session.

Respect for you and trauma-aware care

In my office, and within the bounds of our therapeutic agreement, a client has the ability to tailor the therapy. I am open to feedback and we may collaboratively make adjustments. You may choose to talk, or to remain verbally silent; “telling your trauma story” is not necessary. I respect your full autonomy and sovereignty over your body. You may choose to refuse touch, ask to modify an aspect of the touch, pause for a break, or stop your session at any time. I will do my best to try to make it easy to speak up when something needs attention, and to attend to both verbal and nonverbal cues. Many of us are on the trauma response spectrum. I believe it is important as a human being and as a helping professional to be curious about and work to undo my own biases and to refrain from judging someone for expressing and honoring their boundaries or needs in the moment.

Respect the profession

Illicit interaction or discussion of any kind is never appropriate between massage therapist and client. (Read more about the #respectmassage movement.)

My right of refusal

As a massage therapist, I reserve the right to end a session if I feel uncomfortable as a result of the actions or words of the client. This includes touching, joking, personal questions, pushy advances, violence, the threat of violence, hate speech towards myself or any individual or group of people, and not following the outlined COVID 19-protocols (such as coming in with sneezing, runny nose, sore throat, or not keeping a mask on properly when masking). I reserve the right to refuse service to anyone who will not abide by the policies listed above.

These policies and pandemic-related modifications allow me to keep my doors open and run a sustainable business. Thank you.
